Health of a Journalist in police custody deteriorating, say colleagues in Bosaso

After nearly four days in police custody, the health of a radio Journalist, Yussuf Ali Mohame, is reportedly deteriorating since he could not eat food due to illness.
The journalist has been suffering from typhoid and his condition is now said to be worsening since he could not eat any food, according to fellow journalists who visited him in custody.
Mohamed who worked for Radio Daljir, a local FM station in Bosaso town was arrested on Monday night together with a colleague, Mohamed Mohamud, during a security crackdown in the city.
The two journalists were rounded up by Puntland police who were allegedly perusing criminal gangs hiding in some parts of Bosaso’s Lanta Hawada neighbourhood.
The two are now being held in the area police station together with over 40 other people who were rounded up during the crackdown in the city.
Radio Daljir management are reportedly trying to secure their release and have already held talks with some security officials in the city and other government officials in Garowe over the detention of their employees.
Local journalists condemned the arrest and called on the area regional administration to immediately release the two journalists.
On Wednesday, the area administration banned journalists from reporting incidents involving explosions and assassinations in the region.
