Clashes erupt in parts of Hiran region
Fierce fighting between Beledweyne based combined forces and Al-Shabaab group has on Sunday evening erupted in Daribale, 50 KM from Beledweyne town reports say.
Reports say fighting erupted after TFG forces backed by allied Ahlu Sunna militias and Ethiopian troops launched attack on rebel bases in the area. The allied forces seized rebel bases after a deadly fight.
It is not known the exact number of casualties, but ASWJ’s deputy executive chairman Adan Abdulle Awale claimed that they killed 12 Al-Shabaab fighters and destroyed a rebel vehicle during the fight.
He also claimed that there were no casualties on their side.
Normalcy has now reportedly returned to the area, with TFG and its allied ASWJ forces manning Daribale area.
The incident comes a day after combined forces wrested Beledweyne town from Al-Shabaab after a deadly fight that reportedly lasted more than four hours.
