Eight More Killed in Mogadishu’s Violence

Bar-kulan: Mogadishu; At least eight people are confirmed dead after fighting between the Somali government forces and Al-shabab militias resumed. On Sunday, Mogadishu was a tad calm after six consecutive days of fighting.

More than fifteen other people have been injured by mortar attacks, which mostly hit civilians in the Howlwadag, Wardigley, Bondere and Howdan areas of the city.

Ali Muse, head of Mogadishu’s ambulance service, said that they have collected many injured people in and around Mogadishu’s main markets, Bakara and Suk Ba’ad.

One mortar attack, which hit a residential house in an estate in Wardigley, caused the death of three civilians and injured seven others.

Today will be the eighth day of fighting in the Somali capital since Al-shabab’s spokesman announced a war against government and African Union peacekeepers.
