Mogadishu’s Sea Port under Renovation

Mogadisho: Bar-kulan: The sea port of Mogadishu is being renovated by an international company named Alpha. The renovation exercise started today and it is expected to be completed in a short period of time.

The part of the harbour where ships are docked is being repaired. Workers of the company, which is carrying out the renovation exercise, have dredged the harbour. According to Bar-kulan’s Mogadishu reporter, sand and parts of an old ship that sank long ago were removed from the harbor.

Currently, there are only two ships docked at the port of Mogadishu. The two ships, which are carrying commercial goods, are called Rosen and Mona.

Due to seasonal heavy winds in the Indian Ocean and the Gulf of Aden the Mogadishu port has been ineffective. But, port management has announced that they expect the port to resume duties on 15th of September this year.
