Clashes in El-Barde
Hudur: Bar-Kulan: Al-shabab militia group fighters and the forces of the Transitional Federal Government have clashed last night, in the middle of the night, in El-Barde town of the Bakol region.
The fighting started after Al-Shabab militia attacked a military base of the TFG forces in Elbarde. The two sides attacked each other using heavy weapons as the fighting intensified.
El-barde is now a tense area and the local residents fear that the fighting may continue. Some of them have already started fleeing the town because they had expected the fighting between the two groups to start anytime.
TFG officials in El-Barde are claiming that they have chased away Shabab fighters who attacked them and the area is now under their control. They also claim that they have killed several fighters of the militia group.
However, Al-Shabab is also claiming that they have attacked some of the military bases of the Ethiopian forces in El-Barde but not any government forces. There is no independent source to prove the claims of the two groups.
